The other day my dad came to our house, and pulled a pitcher of apple juice from the fridge.
"Can I drink this? Is this juice, or a sample you're saving?" he asked.
My mother looked a little appalled, and said, "It's juice, of course! What else would it be?"
I, however, chuckled, and said, "In this house, mom, it never hurts to ask." And, seeing as I will soon have another jar of a 'sample' for another 24 hour urine test next week, really, he was pretty smart to check.
Maybe my parents are getting the hang of this PKD thing after all.

Heh. When I was getting ready for my transplant, I had to do one. My daughter (then three) asked for some of the "lemonade". She was a little puzzled by my explanation of what the lemonade really was!
My son just takes it in stride that his mother has to pee in a jug. However, the first time I had to do it he announced to everybody he met, "My mom had to pee in a JAR!!!"
Funny ,I got asked by teenage son "please dont put it in the frige ,I will never be able to drink apple juice again if you do"

I have pkd and so far life is great! However I always look forward to the bi-annual jug of urine in the fridge. It does make it hard to want to drink anything when it's in there.
Also, my dad has pkd and his second transplant is 18 years old.
Anyway, this is my first comment although i've read your blog several times. I love your outlook and positive attitude. Hope all is well.

You are such an imspiration. I just spent my morning reading almost all of your blog (found you from your hilarious comment on Azucar. There is so much I would like ot say, but dont want to come off as an idiotic insensitive jerk, so I will just say you're amazing. I was diagnosed with some "freaky news" as well, not as serious as yours, but it definetly puts the screws to what you think your future will be. Best wishes to you!
