Tatoos

My son has a Walk for PKD tatoo on his tricep. He found it stashed in a stack of papers, clearly forgotten. My husband put it on him and now he walks around, flashing it to people and chanting, "PKD!PKD!PKD!", like he's cheering on a football team, or something. I finally asked him, "Do you know what PKD is?"

He shrugged and said, "No, not really, but I have a cool PKD tatoo!" and he struck his most intense superhero pose with his sleeve pulled up and his muscle flexed.

Ok, so despite everything, my kid is still bascially completely clueless about PKD. Oh well. At least he's having a good time.

That's funny. But it is tough to teach kids about disease. How do you explain it? Usually my explanations come when I'm so tired and sick and grouchy. . . not the best way to teach.
